Attorneys Jessica M. Kramer and Elizabeth A. Mackey, of Erhard Law Group, LLC, along with human resources consultant Jennifer Mead, PHR of Mead Consulting, Inc. will discuss timely and relevant legal issues facing employers, including: the hiring process, including interviewing practices, employment reference checks, and background checks; prohibited discrimination in employment, including discrimination based on gender, age, pregnancy, disability, and arrest or conviction record;  the importance of providing training on discrimination and having a protocol in place for responding to discrimination complaints; and best practices for the drafting and use of employee handbooks.  Each presenter will also share one or two case studies to demonstrate real-life examples of employers facing claims of discrimination in the workplace.
